The Great Migration

The great 2012 retooling of Eclectic Randomness has begun in earnest. A month spent designing a new store building, several more weeks spent developing a new, more versatile vendors, several days spent brainstorming the "HOW" of how things will work in the future..

...and then it all came down to one day when there was nothing else I could work on, so I moved the new building into place and started moving the vendors in.

Now at the end of day 2 (or 3?) of the Migration, I can take a step back and really SEE how the project is coming together.

The short version is that it's not working out exactly the way I hoped, I'm  little unhappy about that, and yet I've succeeded well beyond my wildest dreams at making "more room" for future products. In fact, the store's inventory looks positively sparse.

Much of today was spent converting vendors from HippoVend to my custom made vendor scripts. I got about 20% done with that, when I realized that none of my Bondage Furniture had yet been listed on the marketplace. Sine the Marketplace listings will be once again providing my sole "buy as gift" option.. it was important to get those items on the marketplace.

Then as I was wrapping that up, I realized that my new vendors were incapable of profit sharing. So I had to go back in to the scripts, and add that functionality. My vendor script is now approximately 1024 lines long.

Once I bodged together a solution for that, and re-did all the vendors I'd done up til that point, it was clearly time to call it a day.

But it's coming along.

If anyone wants to drop in and see the results so far, here's the link.

Tomorrow's big task will be finishing up the vendor dance, and once that's done, time and energy permitting, I'll probably do some small about of arranging of things, and of course, deleting all the unused prims left over from the old store. If there's more left in me after that, I can start in on the new fixtures and mechanisms I'll need.
