Well when I left, it looked overcast. I expected a little drizzle, and dressed for it.
I took the bus out to Saint Vincent dePaul's big "as is" warehouse. That's the shop where all the medical and exercise stuff, and well used furniture ends up. So I looked around, and found a digital scale.. with batteries.. with the original box.. for $4.99, marked down 25% to $3.74. Downside, it talks.. but it works. So I picked that up, and a couple of those "hand weights" that joggers run around with, in the 1lb and 2lb sizes. We'll see if I actually DO anything with those.
I also picked up a new umbrella. It's a double-folder, so it's compact, but it doesn't really have the coverage area I like. Rain tends to be one of my big barriers to walking to the store in the rainy season.. and where I live, it rains half the year. So now I own an umbrella.. I have less excuse.
Then I took the bus back home via Value Village, where I finally found a shoulder bag (aka messenger bag) that I can stand. Not so garish as to draw strange looks from people who read me as male.. and functional and roomy enough to hold most of the things I need with me every day (wallet, bus schedule book, notepad, drink bottle, re-usable shopping bags, etc.)
When I got to the bus stop, I checked the schedule, and I had something like 18 minutes until the next bus. So I decided to walk a few extra blocks, and went 2 more bus stops down the route, closer to home. Then I decided I was tired, and waited for the bus. Then I came home. During the trip out, the weather turned freezing cold, and rain poured down in buckets while I was in the SVdP (which is why I bought an umbrella). It got dark before I came home at around 6:50pm
Definitely not prepared for the turn in the weather, but otherwise a very efficiently productive day.
When I got home, my fitbit informed me that I'd walked something like 3.28 miles today, and rewarded me with my first unlocked badge, a "5000 step" achievement. Of course I'd actually walked closer to 7100 steps, but the badges only come at intervals.
I set up my scale, and stripped down to panties, a bra, and the fitbit (it's clipped to the bra). Stood on the scale and got my official "starting weight" for Keto. 313.4lbs as of day 4 on the diet. The most interesting part tho, is even accounting for differences in clothing worn, I've lost approximately 10lbs since I weighed in at the Dr's office 16 days ago, on October 24th.
Now technically, while the last 3 days have been 'on keto', there were a couple of days before that where I was experimenting with replacing pasta with broccoli in hamburger helper, and testing the waters. But right before that, was Halloween.. and there were 2 and a half bags of candy that I ate on my own. I can't specifically say that keto is responsible for the difference (the used scale could have calibration issues).. but it's a 15 pound difference between clothed on 10/24, and in my undies on 11/9.
I gotta figure that at about 5lbs for clothes and shoes, go with the numbers I see.
And the numbers I see are saying something nice to me.. so I'll use them.
