So yesterday went very well, for a day with a lot of things that didn't quite work out as I'd hoped, I still had a lot that worked out very well.
Dietwise, I consumed roughly 85 grams of fat (65%), 79 grams of protein (27%), and 24 grams of net carbs (8%). That meant that I got 1204 calories for the ENTIRE DAY. Those results come in extremely close to the "Keto" goals of 60% fat /35% protein /5% carbs.. and while I was indeed 'trying' to stay on target.. it wasn't hard.
The main concern I have, is that I generally want a bit more food than I had yesterday, and 1200 calories is less than HALF of what a body of my size and weight burns just by being awake and breathing all day. So in the balance of things, I probably didn't eat enough yesterday, and I definitely could have had a bit more protein, but this is roughly what Keto will look like.. and I made it out fine.
Turns out, the awesome Sucralose sweetener I've been using for tea, has about 1.5 carbs per glass. So Among my other tasks today, I need to track down a zero carb sweetener. I can use Stevia (I have in the past) I just need to get some. It's not fair that one glass of tea made at home had MORE carbs than a 2-liter of diet soda.
Yesterday, I managed to get some "Salami Ends" (my favourite form of Salami), and some Marzetti Blue Cheese veggie dip.. and I picked up a new 1gallon pitcher for water in the fridge, and a digital food scale, a new set of measuring cups and spoons, and a small cutting board, ideal for veggies and snack plates. I also picked up some Ketone strips, for when I get serious about the Keto.
Plans for today include going over to REI, to pick up a Fitbit Ultra. I've wanted one for about 2 years, because it's one of the big consumer level "sleep trackers" out there.. but it's also a pedometer, so that could really help in terms of tracking my activity levels. Especially since the closest thing I do to exercise is walk to bus stops, then walk around in stores, and stuff like that. It would also be nice to have some real data on my sleep.
I'll also be finishing up the shopping trip I started to do yesterday. That will include a lot of label reading and such at the grocery store. I also need to drop by Rite Aid to pick up my other prescription. The buses were running so infrequently, that by the time I got back on a bus to Springfield yesterday, I physically couldn't hit both Walmart and Rite-Aid before their pharmacies closed at 9pm, so I went with Walmart.
PS.. I also feel pretty good today.
